Barrichello predicts DRS excitement at Yas Marina

8 November 2011

After its first two races in 2009 and 2010, Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit received much criticism for its lack of overtaking opportunities, not least after Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber found themselves stuck behind Vitaly Petrov in last year’s championship finale. However, Williams' Rubens Barrichello is confident that the new-for-2011 DRS will aid passing in the UAE this weekend.

“Abu Dhabi is a great race and, although some people say that overtaking was not easy there the last two years, this year I think we will have some really good racing with DRS,” says Barrichello.

“The track is very exciting. Turns 2 and 3 make a very special combination of high-speed corners, with the last part of the track a very tricky sequence of low-speed and technical corners. I enjoy going to Abu Dhabi and I’m looking to scoring some more points before heading to the last race of the season in Brazil.”

Barrichello’s best Yas Marina result to date is fourth with Brawn GP in 2009.
