Sébastien Buemi has declined to talk about the future of his Formula 1 career, with a four-way Toro Rosso seat fight taking place and just two races remaining in the 2011 season. The Swiss, who is now in his third campaign with the Faenza team, is up against team-mate Jaime Alguersuari plus Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Éric Vergne.
Earlier this year, it was Alguersuari who appeared to be under the most pressure at Toro Rosso, although the Spaniard has since posted several strong performances to move ahead of Buemi in the standings. The latter currently sits 15th overall, two positions and 11 points in arrears of his team-mate.
“I don’t think too much about it right now,” Buemi said of the future, when questioned during Thursday’s press conference in Abu Dhabi. “Let’s say I try to get the maximum out of myself and the car in the remaining two races and then we will have enough time to talk about next year.
“I believe we have got to be concentrated. We have a good chance of achieving a very good result for the team, so I think it is really important to dedicate ourselves completely to that before thinking about anything else.”
At present, with just the Abu Dhabi and Brazil races still to run, Toro Rosso is tying with Sauber for seventh position in the Constructors’ Championship.
