Jenson Button will drive a McLaren Formula 1 car on the streets of Irish capital Dublin next June, showcasing the Bavaria City Racing Dublin event.
The event will take place on Sunday 3 June and the city is anticipating crowds of around 150,000. Dublin Council is already ensuring that roads will be as smooth as possible, with Button set to drive on several main thoroughfares.
“We are truly excited at the prospect of bringing the Formula 1 experience to Dublin,” says Robert Hyland, Sponsorship Manager at Vodafone Ireland. “It will be a massive event for the city that will be remembered for years to come.”
Although Ireland has never hosted a World Championship round, John Watson finished a close third behind Keke Rosberg and Didier Pironi in the 1982 season.
