Fantastic opportunity for me, says Ceccon
16 November 2011 – Kevin Ceccon set the tenth fastest time as he made his F1 testing debut with Toro Rosso in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. The Italian is one of only two 18-year-olds driving this week and is now thoroughly looking forward to more running time on Thursday.
“This was an incredible experience for me, driving a Formula 1 car and working with this team,” he said, the 2011 Auto GP Champion. “First, I must say thank you to Toro Rosso for giving me this fantastic opportunity.
“We got through a lot of work today, testing parts for the car as well as next season’s Pirelli tyres, running them in comparison to this year’s. I drove two long runs, from which I was able to understand a lot. In fact, I felt that in one day of testing with an F1 car, I learned more than in several days in other categories!
“Therefore today was very good as a learning experience for me and I am looking forward to making more progress tomorrow from a personal point of view and also in terms of helping the team for next season.”
On Thursday, which is the third and final day of this year’s Young Driver test, Monaco’s Stefano Coletti will be back in action for the morning, with Ceccon then returning to the cockpit in the afternoon.
