Schumacher targets top six at Interlagos

19 November 2011

Michael Schumacher believes a top six result is a realistic target as Mercedes GP heads to Brazil for the final round of the 2011 season. For either Benetton or Ferrari, the German is a four-time race winner at legendary Interlagos.

“The final race of the season is approaching fast and I am looking forward to the weekend in Brazil,” says the seven-time World Champion, whose last Brazilian Grand Prix win was in 2002. "There is always a really good atmosphere at the Interlagos track and it's one of the traditional venues for Formula 1 to end the season.

“We have enjoyed some good results, finishing in the top six over the last few races, and I would love to continue that trend and bring the season to a positive end. The team have worked very hard to improve our performance with the car we have available and it would be a fitting reward for them.”

Schumacher heads to South America involved in a battle for seventh place in the Drivers' Championship with team-mate Nico Rosberg; the younger of the two Germans currently holds the advantage by seven points.
