Dave Ryan is visiting Lotus Renault GP at this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix. The ex McLaren Team Manager - who was dismissed from the outfit after the ‘Liegate’ scandal of Australia 2009 - is not planning to join LRGP, GPUpdate.net can report.
Ryan was a McLaren stalwart up to the incident in which he and Lewis Hamilton were found guilty of providing FIA race stewards with inaccurate information, leading to a dismissal from Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh. Although Ryan is now visiting LRGP, he is not expected to be working for the team full-time.
“Dave Ryan has been privately invited by Eric Lux (shareholder of team owner Genii Capital) to join the team for the weekend,” an LRGP team member told GPUpdate.net.
“He has successfully built a GT racing company and is fully committed to that programme for 2012. He has no plan to join the team.
“Dave Ryan has only been asked by the shareholders to take an inside view of the team in preparation of 2012. He is here to assess our methods and give advice.”
Next year, Lotus Renault GP’s chassis name will be switched from ‘Renault’ to ‘Lotus’, as the rival squad currently named ‘Team Lotus’ becomes ‘Caterham Formula 1’.
