Barrichello: Everything going according to plan

2011 Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix: Friday second free practice results

Rubens Barrichello could face a Q1 qualifying elimination in Brazil on Saturday, judging by Williams’ pace in free practice. The Paulista, three times a pole-sitter at Interlagos, ended Friday in 18th place and just over two tenths of a second slower than team-mate Pastor Maldonado, although fuel loads remain unknown.

“The car felt better this morning than it did this afternoon, so we will have some work to do in practice tomorrow to make sure that we are in the best possible shape for qualifying,” said Barrichello, the most experienced driver in Formula 1 history and two times a championship runner-up. “Apart from that, it was a normal day with everything going according to plan.”

“This track is good fun!” added the aforementioned Maldonado. “We had no problems today and worked our way through the scheduled test programme, which included a lot of long runs on various tyre compounds, which is positive. That has given us some good information which we will use to make our preparations for the race.”
