2011 Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix: Saturday qualifying results

Christian Horner has described Sebastian Vettel’s Interlagos pole position as ‘awesome’, with the World Champion having established a new Formula 1 record in Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying. Courtesy of his 30th career pole, the German is the first man to record 15 poles in a single season and therefore breaks the former record of 1992 title winner Nigel Mansell.

“It was remarkable, he’s done it all year,” Red Bull Team Principal Horner told BBC Sport. “He shared the record for two weeks with Mr. Mansell, so a new world record today is an awesome achievement. To have Mark (Webber) up there as well is a great last qualifying session of 2011.

“Seb made a small bit of history today, he’s only 24 but has made his mark during his small time in the sport so far. He now sits on top of an illustrious list of names, in terms of pole positions in a season.”
