Rubens Barrichello says his fastest qualifying effort at Interlagos on Saturday afternoon ‘was like a pole position’ lap with the Williams machinery he is currently driving. The Brazilian will start his home Grand Prix from 12th position, an impressive six places ahead of team-mate and fellow South American Pastor Maldonado.
"It was a great feeling," Barrichello commented. "You are always there or thereabouts, but it’s been a tough year with the car. When you’re home you have to use everything to your advantage, and I used it to the best. It was a lap that was like a pole position lap on that car, so I’m really pleased."
Barrichello is also hoping for some rain on Sunday, explaining that it will be a massive source of excitement for the season finale.
"Tomorrow is another 71 laps that I have to do, and I hope we have a little bit of rain. It will excite everyone, and I’m sure they won’t mind bringing their umbrellas!"
