Michael Schumacher is braced for a wet Brazilian Grand Prix this afternoon, with the German having already enjoyed four race victories at Interlagos. The seven-time World Champion’s first Formula 1 success at the track came in 1994, with further victories following in 1995, 2000 and 2002.
Schumacher will start the season finale from tenth on the grid, having elected not to set a flying lap during yesterday’s Q3 in a bid to save tyres.
“The forecast says there is a high probability for rain during the race,” Schumacher comments. “With this in mind, we have kept all of our options open for tomorrow and we had a strategic approach to qualifying today.
“Still, we need to find out why we weren't able to match our times from this morning. There will be a lot of data checking now so that tomorrow it will be very different and we can attack for some points.”
Schumacher’s greatest rise in Brazil came in 2004, when he started 18th on the grid only to spin in the early stages; he proceeded to fight back to seventh for Ferrari. Today, he aims for seventh in the final 2011 standings and is currently seven points behind team-mate Nico Rosberg.
