The BBC has confirmed that David Coulthard and Lee McKenzie will remain part of its line-up for the 2012 Formula 1 season. It has already been confirmed that lead commentator Martin Brundle will be making the switch to Sky Sports, likely to be alongside current BBC Radio 5 live commentator David Croft.
Coulthard will retain his position as pundit, working with anchorman Jake Humphrey, although another year of commentary for the Scot is yet to be verified. McKenzie also joined the corporation when it retook television rights for 2009 and she retains her pit lane reporter position.
“The first thing to stress is that we will be at every race, bringing the season to life for BBC TV viewers,” Ben Gallop, Head of F1 at the BBC, said on Sunday. “You may have heard Martin Brundle is leaving - and we wish him well. We will be announcing the rest of our on-air team in the coming weeks.”
In 2012, Sky Sports will broadcast all races live on new dedicated channel Sky Sports F1 HD. The BBC will also cover all races, although only ten will be shown live.
