Strong field for Massa kart event

A large field of drivers are contesting Felipe Massa’s annual kart race this weekend, with the Ferrari pilot's 2012 event kicking off in Florianópois for the sixth consecutive year on Friday. The grid features ‘the largest ever number of Formula 1 drivers’ to date, with a wide range of other motorsport categories also being represented.

"The level is getting higher and higher and every year we have been able to add some new attractions, as is the case of the guys who race against me in Formula 1," Massa commented. "Emerson Fittipaldi’s 15-year old grandson Pietro, newly-crowned Nascar Limited Late Model Champion, is another rookie in the race along with GP2 Series front-runner Jules Bianchi and former Scuderia Italia, Minardi, Jordan, Sauber and Ferrari driver Gianni Morbidelli."

A total of 20,000 spectators are expected to descend on the Sapiens Arena for the event, with all the action being broadcasted live on Brazilian Motorsport TV.
