Force India set to reveal drivers next week

11 December 2011

Silverstone-based Sahara Force India is expected to formally announce its 2012 driver line-up next week, with the outfit’s Christmas party taking place on Thursday. Team co-owner Dr. Vijay Mallya is not short of options for the upcoming season, with Adrian Sutil, Paul di Resta and reserve Nico Hülkenberg all vying for seats.

The Indian businessman was set to speed up the decision making process at the request of current driver Sutil, but has seemingly reverted to his initial plan.

"I can't confirm (an exact) date, but next week is the date that was originally mentioned by Dr. Mallya," a Force India spokesperson explained to GPUpdate.net.

Just over a fortnight ago, Vice Principal Rob Fernley said ‘a number of things’ have caused slight delays, with Sutil also being linked to Williams. However, he believes the ideal plan was always for the line-up to be revealed on 15 December.

"There are a number of things holding it up," he commented. "It is only fair we deal with the drivers. We have three very talented drivers and we need to make sure the one who is going to be disappointed has the best opportunity to position himself.

"If you remember, he (Dr.Mallya) said 15 December. That would be consistent with what he has always projected. I'm sure that's the date he's always set."
