Several ex Formula 1 drivers are preparing to compete alongside Indian hopefuls in the new i1Super Series. Names include 1997 Champion Jacques Villeneuve, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Giancarlo Fisichella, with the series having been officially launched in Abu Dhabi on Monday night.
The first i1Super Series is being promoted by Machdar Motorsports, with the aforementioned trio being joined by other familiar faces such as Karun Chandhok, Jean Alesi, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Mika Salo, Sakon Yamamoto and Mathias Lauda, son of triple title winner Niki.
Some drivers, such as Villeneuve (pictured), were unable to attend the launch ceremony due to prior commitments.
