Trulli: Caterham can score points in 2012
24 December 2011 – Jarno Trulli believes that he and Caterham F1 team-mate Heikki Kovalainen will be able to score points next season, having failed to do so during the squad’s two-year inception under the Lotus guise. With the addition of KERS for the 2012 campaign, the Italian driver says his target is no longer simply hopeful but also ‘realistic’.
"The team's technical structure will improve too. New engineers are coming in all of the time and the hiring of John Iley (from McLaren) confirms the team's ambitions.
"I don't want to say I'm going to win races but I think the ambition to leave the group of new teams and to get into the midfielders one is realistic. We'll begin to show what we're capable of in the races and score our maiden points."
Trulli’s words have eased speculation that he will depart the Norfolk squad ahead of the 2012 season, with a selection of drivers previously being linked to his seat.
