Newey and Mansell to receive honours

31 December 2011

Red Bull Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey and former World Champion Nigel Mansell have been included on the list of New Year's honours, a ceremony in which standout figures are rewarded for services in their respective fields.

Newey, who has most recently helped Red Bull claim two more World Championship crowns, has been recognised with an OBE for his overall services to motorsport. The 53-year-old has designed eight Constructors' title-winning cars during his time in the sport so far, having previously worked for the likes of March, Williams and McLaren.

Worcestershire-born Mansell, who secured title glory with Newey's Williams creation back in 1992, has been honoured with a CBE for his services to young people, following on from the MBE he picked up in honour of his personal F1 achievements.
