Buemi decision entirely logical, says Horner

Buemi decision entirely logical, says Horner

5 January 2012

It was a natural choice to transfer Sébastien Buemi to the role of Red Bull Racing reserve driver for the 2012 Formula 1 season, in accordance with Team Principal Christian Horner. The Swiss switches from sister outfit Toro Rosso, where he and former team-mate Jaime Alguersuari had both been replaced.

“It was entirely logical for Sébastien to continue with Red Bull, having been a member of the Junior Team since 2004,” says Horner. “He already knows the team well from his time with us in 2008 and has gained significant race experience over the past three years. He will complete important test and simulation work for us throughout the year and will be in attendance at each Grand Prix.”

Red Bull retains its championship-winning race driver line-up of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber as Toro Rosso elects for Daniel Ricciardo and F1 newcomer Jean-Éric Vergne. The aforementioned Alguersuari currently remains on the sidelines.
