Domenicali officially confirms Ferrari launch date

11 January 2012

As reported by GPUpdate.net in December, Ferrari has confirmed that its 2012 F1 car will be launched on Friday 3 February. An announcement came via Team Principal Stefano Domenicali at the Madonna di Campiglio ski resort on Wednesday.

The annual gathering for the Ferrari Formula 1 outfit and the Ducati MotoGP team, which is dubbed ‘Wrooom’, sees the drivers and riders in question meet up with team chiefs as representatives from sponsors also join in with proceedings.

“As has been the case for many years now, it will be a very conventional ceremony,” Domenicali explained. “If the weather is good enough, right from the afternoon of the 3rd or more likely the following day, the car will run at Fiorano to fulfil some promotional obligations before tackling its first real test in Jerez on 7 February.”

McLaren and Sauber are the only other teams to have already revealed their 2012 launch dates, with the covers coming off the respective Woking and Hinwil-built cars on 1 February and 6 February.
