Robert Kubica has broken his right leg for the second time in eleven months. The Pole, who was already set to miss the 2012 F1 season, is reported to have slipped on an icy surface in the Italian town of Pietrasanta.
Although any reports remain sketchy at present, it is being reported in the Italian media that the former BMW and Renault driver slipped on ice. He was submitted to hospital where x-rays were carried out.
Having suffering a near-fatal accident in an Italian rally on 6 February 2011, Kubica - who had previously shown promising pace in Valencia’s pre-season test - was forced to sit out last year’s championship. On Wednesday, Ferrari head Stefano Domenicali played down talk of the Kraków man testing with his team once he is recovered.
LRGP is now running F1 returnee Romain Grosjean alongside 2007 Champion Kimi Räikkönen, who will also be competing for the first time in three years.
