Horner: Red Bull progressing well

17 January 2012

Christian Horner has full confidence that Red Bull will be able to maintain 2011 levels of competitiveness as the 2012 Formula 1 season kicks off in March. Last year, the Milton Keynes squad – already double World Champions from 2010 – picked up all but one of the pole positions on offer and won twelve out of 19 Grands Prix.

“We are focused on keeping our heads down and only what happens in Melbourne matters,” the Team Principal said at the Autosport Show. “I think we have proven to be adept at changing to different regulations, but we don't underestimate McLaren and Ferrari or even Mercedes. We will only know where we are when the fuel comes out of the car in qualifying in Melbourne in eight or nine weeks' time.”

“At the moment things seem to be progressing well. The factory is incredibly busy, as I'm sure all the teams are at this time of the year, and of course there is the added challenge this year of trying to pass the crash test before we test for the first time - but that's the same for everybody and we are burning the midnight oil in Milton Keynes at the moment.”

Testing will begin in Jerez next month, with the 2012 F1 campaign then kicking off in Melbourne, Australia on 18 March.
