I still have lots to offer, says Barrichello

Rubens Barrichello is confident that he remains capable of being on the F1 grid. The Brazilian, replaced by compatriot Bruno Senna at Williams, has been left out of a seat for the 2012 campaign and – by his own admission – his future now remains ‘open’.

Williams’ confirmation of Tuesday signifies that Barrichello is out of an F1 drive for the first time since entering the sport, which was with Jordan at the 1993 South African Grand Prix.

‘When I said that things were open it’s because I still have lots of speed in me…just like an old friend said, racing is in my blood,’ Barrichello said on Twitter. ‘I want to thank everyone for the support and the nice messages I have received...you guys are great.’

Alongside Senna at Williams is Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado, who was GP2 Champion in 2010 and now stays on for a second season with the Grove team.
