Webber gets back to work at Red Bull

26 January 2012

Following a hectic agenda in 2011 and a prolonged post-season break, Mark Webber has returned to a full-time schedule with Red Bull. The Australian is now making regular visits to the Milton Keynes factory, where 24-hour shift patterns have been in place, on the run-up to winter testing and the start of the new season.

“I had a good feed around Christmas time, it was good to relax and unwind with family and friends as we all like to do at that time of year,” he said on the Red Bull website. “No shortage of alcohol, put your feet up for a while and recharge. New Year was a bit of a non-event - it was pretty tame compared to previous years so I’d say London’s got the nod at the moment.”

When asked of his preparations for the upcoming Formula 1 campaign, Webber replied:

“You soon get into it pretty quick, dealing with the guys on a technical aspect - it all comes back to us pretty quickly. It was certainly good to be back in, starting work and improving and working out what we need to do to make the car as quick as possible.

"When I leave the simulator on a beautiful sunny day in Barcelona and I get in the car and it’s always raining…your eyes have got to adjust to that.”

Red Bull's 2012 launch will take place on Sunday 6 February. Webber has already been nominated as the first driver to test the new RB8, at Jerez on 7 and 8 February.
