Ferrari extends contract with Santander

Ferrari extends contract with Santander

3 February 2012

Ferrari has extended its link-up with Spanish banking group Santander until the end of the 2017 Formula 1 season. Formerly a sponsor of McLaren through Fernando Alonso’s time with the team, Santander first became a partner of the Italian team when the former double World Champion made his move to the Scuderia in 2010.

“We are pleased to have extended our relationship with the Santander Bank,” says Team Principal Stefano Domenicali. “In these first two years together, we have been able to see on a daily basis how much our two companies share the same values: a desire for excellence, love of competition, team work, the will to excel and to serve one’s customers needs.

“Having extended the contract from now is a sign of the great confidence Santander has in us and that is something of which we can be particularly proud.”

Friday has also seen the launching of Ferrari’s new F2012, which was revealed online after the team’s presentation was cancelled due to heavy snow in Maranello.

In the United Kingdom alone, Santander now owns banking chains such as Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley.
