Reigning GP2 Champion and Lotus F1 driver Romain Grosjean helped new team-mate Kimi Räikkönen pull the covers off its 2012 machine this afternoon, with the Frenchman approaching his return to the sport in a positive frame of mind.
Admitting that there is a lot to learn prior to the opening round in Melbourne and beyond, Grosjean believes his colleague will be key to success throughout the year.
"So far we need a little bit more knowledge about the Pirelli tyres, but I think I will be able to get a lot from him (Räikkönen). We need to work and bring the team as far forward as possible, which is our main goal. I'm very happy to be alongside him.
"I think last year, 2011, was a fantastic season for myself with the GP2 title, the Friday morning with the team and all the time I could spend with the guys on the race track as a third driver. I'm feeling quite good for the season ahead; I'm very happy to be here for sure and to be chosen as one of the drivers."
Despite admitting that the team has big ambitions in 2012, Grosjean's mind is currently set on completing a successful testing period.
"We are all expecting a lot from this year," he added. "I've seen the car almost from the beginning to the end of the building. We're all waiting to see the car on-track and after the first four days of testing we will have a good idea of how the season will be."
Grosjean will test the outfit's new car at Jerez from Thursday to Friday next week, following Kimi Räikkönen's two-day stint behind the wheel.
