Tuesday morning has marked the unofficial start of the 2012 Formula 1 season, with pre-season testing now underway at a bright but cold Jerez. As the green light illuminated at nine o’clock, Heikki Kovalainen and Caterham were the first on-track.
Today’s session lasts for eight hours, with running continuing until 5pm local time (GMT +1). During that period, the teams will find out just how good (or bad!) their new contender may be, also evaluating the modified Pirelli tyres for this year.
