Felipe Massa claims that Ferrari has much work to do before the start of the 2012 Formula 1 season. So far through testing in Jerez, the Italian team has remained decidedly hushed and is revealing little in its post-session press releases. Although speculation is rife that the Scuderia could be sandbagging, the reality is that all teams’ true pace remains very much unknown.
“There is a lot of work,” Massa told journalists after finishing his programme on Wednesday. “This is a brand-new car, not what we had last year, and obviously requires a lot of work. We still have many things to try out. I have done so many laps, trying things out.
“We have had to concentrate very much on small things so far, but small things which we do need to understand and collect a lot of data for. I’m sure it will be the same tomorrow and, in fact, for the rest of this test; so it’s a lot of work, for sure, but we’re just here to go out there, collect data and learn as much as possible about this car.”
Fernando Alonso is driving the F2012 on Thursday and Friday.
