Sergio Pérez was staying firmly realistic after a tricky day on-track for Sauber. Thursday marked the Mexican’s second day of action in Jerez this week, as team-mate Kamui Kobayashi has stepped back into the C31 on Friday morning.
“It was a difficult day for us but the important thing is that we are improving,” Pérez said after finishing Thursday with only 48 laps to his name, having been significantly delayed as the team changed his gearbox oil filter.
“Every step we took went in the right direction. Kamui has another day of testing here tomorrow; obviously he will have an intense programme and I hope we can finish the Jerez test with a productive day.”
Pérez will be back in the cockpit when testing continues in less than a fortnight’s time.
