Jean-Éric Vergne was back behind the wheel for his second day of testing at Jerez today as he completed 80 tours of the circuit, just a single lap more than he managed on Thursday. After reporting that changes needed to be made before things were perfect, Vergne acknowledged that he felt more comfortable with the car.
"A good second day for me as we worked through everything on our work plan and completed a lot of kilometres," he said. "After making some adjustments, I feel more comfortable in the car and I can also get an understanding of the effect of the set-up changes that we tried and they seem to have moved us forward."
The team completed 1402 kilometres over the course of the past four days, with just a few hiccups along the way. Chief Engineer, Laurent Mekies commented on how the new driver pairing faired, explaining: "We were running Daniel and Jean-Éric for the first time since they were signed as our race drivers: they both did well, establishing their relationship with the team."
With the first test session of the year complete, Vergne concluded by saying: "A positive day, so now I’m looking forward to the second test session."
The Frenchman will take part in the next four day test at Barcelona in just over a week.
