Sauber: Promising signs from C31

13 February 2012

Sauber has been left encouraged by the performance of its car following the first pre-season test at Jerez, describing on-track results in the Andalusian region of Spain as promising. Despite Kamui Kobayashi's technical issue on Friday afternoon, spirits are high ahead of the next gathering at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.

“Overall the results of the first test with the new C31 are promising," said Giampaolo Dall’Ara, Head of Track Engineering at Sauber. "After we had all the initial systems checks behind us on day one, when Kamui covered 106 laps, we did a good deal of aero work and learnt a lot about the 2012 tyres.

"On the setup side we would have preferred to run a bit more in Jerez but this was only the first test and we will catch up in Barcelona."

Mexican Sergio Pérez will kick-off Sauber's programme at the next event, driving for two full days before Kobayashi returns to the wheel for the final half of the test.
