It was Lotus which racked up the most mileage at Formula 1’s first pre-season test of the year in Jerez last week. After a difficult first day saw Pastor Maldonado suffer a series of technical problems, he and Bruno Senna put the hammer down to bring Williams up into second place for mileage over the four days.
Mercedes came in for the fourth highest lap numbers, although the Brackley squad was running with its 2011 car. The highest-placed big guns with a 2012 car are McLaren in sixth spot. However, following two strong opening days, Force India tumbled down the order as they only managed two tours of the track before Jules Bianchi’s shunt on Thursday morning.
The current mileage table is as follows:
1. Lotus 404 laps / 1,788.9 km / 1111.4 mi
- ran on all four days
2. Williams 372 laps / 1,647.2 km / 1,023.4 mi
- ran on all four days
3. Caterham 358 laps / 1585.2 km / 984.8 mi
- ran for all four days
4. Mercedes 348 laps / 1,540.9 km / 957.4 mi
- ran on three days with 2011 car
5. Toro Rosso 316 laps / 1,399.3 km / 869.3 mi
- ran on all four days
6. McLaren 313 laps / 1,385.9 km / 861.1 mi
- ran on all four days
7. Sauber 299 laps / 1,323.9 km / 822.5 mi
- ran for all four days
8. Red Bull 297 laps / 1,315.1 km / 817.1 mi
- ran for all four days
9. Ferrari 268 laps / 1,186.7 km / 737.3 mi

10. Force India 209 laps / 929.5 km / 574.9 mi
- lost one day when Bianchi crashed
11. HRT 108 laps / 478.2 km / 297.1 mi
