Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel has been awarded the silver laurel leaf, the highest sporting award on offer in Germany.
The Red Bull driver will be presented with the award by German President Christian Wulff on Friday of next week at Bellevue Palace in Berlin. After testing in Barcelona on Tuesday and Wednesday, Vettel will travel back to his home nation as Mark Webber drives at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Michael Schumacher is also in possession of a silver laurel leaf, having picked up the honour after claiming his own second world title in 1995.
