Massa spends two days in Ferrari simulator

20 February 2012

Felipe Massa was fully occupied at the end of last week, spending two full days in the Ferrari simulator at Maranello. The Brazilian will be back in the real cockpit in Barcelona on Thursday, taking over from team-mate Fernando Alonso.

“I’ve been able to try the car on the Catalunya circuit, at least on the simulator,” Massa explained before heading home to Monaco, where he has spent the weekend training.

“The past two days have been very interesting because we ran both on the track where the new car has already run, in other words Jerez, and then on the next circuit. There’s a lot of work to do to fine-tune the F2012 but, as both Fernando and I said last week, I think this car has plenty of potential.

“It will be important to do a lot of kilometres next week because we have many ideas we want to try out and it’s essential we don’t have any problems; I know that, on this front too, the team has worked assiduously to ensure that Fernando and I can do a lot of laps.

“I’ll say it before we even start: again this coming session, we won’t be looking at the stopwatch, especially as you can never know what your rivals are running. The truth will only begin to emerge in Melbourne.”

In 2012, Massa is immediately aiming for a first Grand Prix victory since his season-ending race at home in Brazil three and a half years ago.
