Caterham announces first Russian sponsor

20 February 2012

Following the recruitment of Vitaly Petrov last week, Caterham has named its first Russian sponsor. Sibur, the country’s largest petrochemical company, continues the partnership with Petrov which began last year; as a result, its logos switch from the cars of Lotus Renault GP to those of Caterham.

“We are delighted to welcome Sibur into our team to help them continue their relationship in F1 with Vitaly and now with Caterham,” says Team Principal and CEO Tony Fernandes.

“F1 is a truly global sport and Sibur’s investment in our sport is proof of the value F1 can bring, on a national and international level, so we are looking forward to working closely with Mr (Dmitry) Konov (Sibur CEO) and his team.”

Petrov entered F1 in 2010 and this year replaces Italy’s Jarno Trulli.
