Nico Hülkenberg was left feeling positive after he started off the first day of testing for Force India in Barcelona and ended it in second place, having spend a good proportion of the day at the head of the time-sheets.

“Once again it’s good to do so many laps and I’m pleased with how things went today," said the 24 year old German. "It was only my second day in the car and I’m still bedding in and getting used to things, but after each run I felt a bit more comfortable."

Up-beat after a long day spent accumulating data, he said: "We started with some aero runs and more data gathering this morning, and then moved to longer runs in the afternoon. The car feels consistent and the drivability is good so I feel positive heading into tomorrow.”

Hülkenberg will be back for a second outing tomorrow while team-mate Paul Di Resta will take charge on Thursday and Friday.
