Fernando Alonso was back behind the wheel of the F2012 today at the Circuit de Catalunya, touring the circuit 75 times over the course of the day. The Spaniard said the team are 'totally focussed' but have a lot of work to do after suffering another hour out in the morning.

“There’s still a lot of work to do, but isn’t that what we are here for?” said the man from Asturias. “I don’t think we will see anything different over the coming days, because before we can see what this car is really capable of, we must piece together all the pieces in the jigsaw."

After a tough couple of seasons at Ferrari, during which Alonso missed out on his third title at the final race in Abu Dhabi, he commented on the Tifosi's apprehension before the coming season.

"I know there is much expectation from the outside, but we are totally focussed on ourselves, without giving a thought to what is going on around us. We will only start to properly understand the situation in Melbourne.”

Alonso continues tomorrow, for his second day gathering data, testing aero and comparing different configurations. Felipe Massa takes over testing duty on Thursday and Friday.
