Marussia F1 turned up at the second test of the year having missed the opening one in Jerez over a week ago. Still using their 2011 MVR-02 the French rookie never the less put in the most laps of anyone while also setting the slowest time, nearly five seconds off the pace of Sebastian Vettel but said he was looking forward to tomorrow.
“It has been a very good first day for me and a positive way to begin the new season," Pic commented. "The car has worked very well all day so we were able to push through with the programme."
Marussia concentrated on re-acclimatising the race team to pit stops and making sure their new driver was comfortable before finishing the day with a race simulation.
"We made a lot of pit stops this morning and practiced all the procedures, which was very helpful for me, and this afternoon we completed a race simulation. I learned a lot from the day and I’m looking forward to running again tomorrow.”
Pic gets his second day of running tomorrow before more experienced team-mate Timo Glock takes the reigns for the final two days.
