As track surface temperatures barely nudged into double figures in Barcelona on Tuesday, Bruno Senna was keen see a rise in order to gain a more accurate comparison for Williams’ performance in relation to the first pre-season test in Jerez.
Admitting that the Grove team needs to work on its pace in low-speed corners, the Brazilian made a point of highlighting the low grip levels at in Catalonia this week.
“The temperatures have been very low and you can see many more marbles on the track here than in Jerez, the track is full of marbles already,” Senna told gathered journalists, including GPUpdate.net. “It means that the tyres are probably not working so well, so it does favour the guys with more downforce more than it does at other tracks.
“It will be interesting to see what happens to the balance when the temperature rises. Some people are doing faster times, then slower ones again, so it shows that people are running different fuel loads and we shall soon see what the reality is.”
On Tuesday, reserve driver Valtteri Bottas is enjoying a full day of testing for Williams. Pastor Maldonado will be in the car on Thursday and Friday, with Senna not returning to the cockpit of the Renault-powered FW34 until next week.
