Australian Daniel Ricciardo was back for his second day of testing in Barcelona but had a number of problems over the course of the day, including a couple of stoppages. The 22 year-old from Perth was up-beat following the morning session but admitted the afternoon had not gone to plan.
“The afternoon did not go to plan," he commented. "But the morning was positive and we did all the runs we had planned for the first part of the day."
A drive-shaft problem meant Ricciardo was able to complete just 50 laps, the fewest of anyone but set a time quick enough to put him fifth, sandwiched between two World Champions.
"We worked on making adjustments to the car balance, also trying some different mechanical changes to the car, which is why I did mainly short runs. I could feel the effect of these changes and the car reacted in the way we expected.”
Frenchman Jean-Éric Vergne steps up on Thursday and Friday for the team from Faenza, following Ricciardo's two day stint in the cockpit.
