Massa confident of Ferrari progress
23 February 2012 – Felipe Massa is confident that Ferrari are making progress with the F2012 after he took over testing duties from Fernando Alonso on Thursday. Massa completed 84 laps, with his best in a time nearly two seconds slower than his Spanish team-mate, ending the day in seventh position.
“The car is definitely better compared to Jerez and we are beginning to define how we must move forward to continue to improve,” he commented. “I ran all the time on the hardest tyres and I am reasonably pleased with the work we did.
"Tomorrow, I will try the other compounds and we will work on fine tuning the car. It will be important to do a lot of kilometres over these final five days to be as well prepared as possible for the first race of the season.”
Massa starts his seventh campaign as a main driver for Ferrari in 2012, partnering up with Alonso for the third time. Massa rounds out Ferrari's test on Friday.
Meanwhile, Ferrari have altered their final testing schedule along with Austrian rivals Red Bull Racing. The last pre-season event at the Circuit de Catalunya was due to take place between the 1st and the 4th of March but the Italian giants have instead opted to begin and end a day later.
