Mileage update: McLaren on top in Barcelona

27 February 2012
Formula 1 test at Circuit de Catalunya 24 February 2012

McLaren racked up the most kilometres at the second of three pre-season Formula 1 test sessions last week. The mammoth efforts of Maldonado, Senna and Bottas put Williams second overall. Thanks to their chassis problem, Lotus shot from most mileage in Jerez to lowest of those attending the Circuit de Catalunya.

Mercedes enjoyed a strong first run with its 2012 car, whereas Ferrari lost time as it experimented with different parts. Charles Pic did a stellar job on his Marussia debut but Caterham was hit by technical problems on two of the days. HRT’s place at the bottom of this list was cemented as the team passed its final two crash tests.

The Barcelona (1) mileage table looks like this:

1. McLaren 464 laps / 2,159.9 km / 1,334.0 mi
- ran on all four days

2. Williams 454 laps / 2,113.4 km / 1,305.3 mi
- ran on all four days

3. Mercedes 399 laps / 1,857.4 km / 1,147.1 mi
- ran on all four days, debut of F1 W03

4. Sauber 394 laps / 1,834.1 km / 1,132.7 mi
- ran on all four days

5. Force India 393 laps / 1,829.4 km / 1,129.8 mi
- ran on all four days

6. Red Bull 365 laps / 1,699.1 km / 1,049.4 mi
