Mileage update: Ferrari most, Red Bull least in Spain

Formula 1 test at Circuit de Catalunya 4 March 2012

Although their expected Melbourne grid positions could not be much more different this year, it was a reverse of the order in terms of mileage at the final pre-season test in Barcelona. Ferrari led the way with 466 laps, whereas Red Bull managed only 60 percent of that figure as they struggled with problems.

On Saturday at the Circuit de Catalunya, Red Bull rolled out a selection of major upgrades - not least to the exhaust section of the RB8. However, as the squad told GPUpdate.net on Sunday afternoon, it was gearbox problems which kept World Champion Sebastian Vettel in the pits for much of the final day.

The Barcelona (2) mileage table looks like this:

1. Ferrari 466 laps / 2,169.3 km / 1,339.7 mi
- ran on all four days

2. Mercedes 436 laps / 2,029.6 km / 1,253.5 mi
- ran on all four days

3. Caterham 392 laps / 1,824.7 km / 1,127.0 mi
