Williams to display topiary car at Flower Show

15 March 2012

Williams will be presenting ‘The Williams Story’ at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower show, in the process displaying a life-size topiary Formula 1 car similar to that shown above, which is located outside the conference centre at the team’s Grove factory.

The show will be held between the 22 and 26 May, with the exhibition charting the history of Williams F1 from its founding in 1977 to present day operations. However, the story will be told through a series of horticultural displays, with the life-size car being designed by exhibitors King and Co.

“The Chelsea Flower Show is a uniquely British occasion that has stood the test of time and an event which continues to develop and improve every year,” says Team Principal Sir Frank Williams. “To be taking part in an exhibit in such an iconic show is a great honour and King and Co are putting together a fabulous display to tell our story.

“I hope the public find our contribution both unique and entertaining. I'm looking forward to the event enormously.”

Williams last won a Formula 1 race when Juan Pablo Montoya triumphed at his last Grand Prix with the team, in Brazil eight years ago.
