Sebastian Vettel has admitted that McLaren rival Jenson Button was simply unbeatable in Melbourne today, with the latter completing a lights to flag victory after jumping into the lead at the start. However, despite missing out on the win, Vettel has been left in high spirits about Red Bull's potential this season.
"Congratulations to McLaren and Jenson, he drove a fantastic race," Vettel commented during the post-race press conference. "He was unbeatable today, but I am happy to come away with second place. A lot of people did not expect it after yesterday.
"It was a positive race, one we knew would be difficult. So, to finish second with a lot of points is important.”
Looking ahead to next weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix in Kuala Lumpur, Vettel is hopeful that his team can give McLaren a 'much harder time' on-track.
"The car has a lot of potential," the reigning World Champion added. "I would have loved to be in a better position yesterday (in qualifying). Now we need to address problems and make sure that we give them a harder time next week."
