Glock eager for more mileage
22 March 2012 – Timo Glock is keen to pile on the kilometres as Formula 1 heads to Malaysia this weekend. In Melbourne, Marussia enjoyed an impressive double car finish to follow on from a trying winter period in which no testing was completed with its 2012 car.
As a result of the team’s 14th and 15th positions in Australia, it is now officially ahead of both Caterham and HRT for tenth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
“Malaysia provides another good opportunity for us to learn about the car in these early days for us,” says Glock. “Sepang is a completely new track layout which will give us the chance to see how good the car is in the high-speed corners.
“It will be a tough test for all of us, but from a development point of view it is very good that the second race follows so quickly because we can then head home with a mountain of data to work with during the three-week break before China.
“It will be a very busy time for the engineers, as they are also still learning about the car, but we need to keep pushing now to keep the pace.”
Sepang is the scene of one of Glock’s three F1 podium finishes to date, as the German finished third for Toyota in the chaotic and shortened race of three years ago.
