HRT working better together, says de la Rosa
13 April 2012 – HRT continued to make strides on Friday in China, but Pedro de la Rosa is under no illusions that the Spanish team does not still have much work to do. After a rain-affected opening practice and all-dry second session, he and team-mate Narain Karthikeyan ended the day in respective 22nd and 24th places.
At the tail end of the 24-car field, the HRT duo sandwiched the Marussia of Charles Pic. De la Rosa’s best effort of 1:40.343 was almost four and half seconds off the leading pace established by the Mercedes of Michael Schumacher.
“The day started with a strange morning session as a result of the weather conditions, but it was the same for everyone,” commented the man from Barcelona. “However, the afternoon session went well where we were able to try out various setup options and adjustments that enabled us to improve the balance of the car both with Medium and Soft tyres.
“We were able to complete the scheduled programme but tomorrow we should progress a bit. We definitely felt an improvement with respect to the Malaysian Grand Prix and the team is also working better together, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
After finishing 11th overall in its first two Formula 1 seasons, HRT is currently placed 12th and last in the 2012 Constructors’ Championship table.
