Both Pastor Maldonado and Pedro de la Rosa have received official reprimands from the stewards following Chinese Grand Prix qualifying on Saturday.
Both men have escaped fines or penalties, with the stewards having received the points of view of all drivers involved. Williams man Maldonado was adjudged to have held up Heikki Kovalainen’s Caterham in Q1, whereas the HRT of de la Rosa blocked Maldonado’s team-mate Bruno Senna in the same phase of qualifying.
"It was unnecessary for Pastor,” Kovalainen had told Sky Sports. “I was on a hot lap, he was on an out-lap and weaving all over the back straight. He had no intention of letting me by. I think it was a rookie mistake and he might have to pay for that. He then made sure he had a good gap to start his lap.”
During the investigation, opinions were heard and video tape reviewed. The driver representative steward this weekend is five-time Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro.
