Vergne to start from pit lane in China

15 April 2012
starting grid

Toro Rosso’s Jean-Éric Vergne will start Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix from the pit lane. The Frenchman, who qualified 18th for the second consecutive race, has undergone a number of car changes overnight at the Shanghai International Circuit.

Having been eliminated from Q1 qualifying, eight tenths of a second slower than team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, modifications on Vergne’s car include the floor, barge boards and sidepod inlets.

As a result of the changes, the pit lane start procedure applies; therefore Vergne will be shown a green light at the end of the pit lane once the field passes en route to Turn 1.

The race begins at 3pm local time (GMT +7) and can be followed through the GPUpdate.net Live Report.
