Pirro stays on as Bahrain steward
19 April 2012 – Emanuele Pirro is again the driver representative steward for this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix. He was present for the Chinese Grand Prix and follows the pattern established by governing body the FIA so far this season.
For the season-opening Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix, three-time Formula 1 winner Johnny Herbert took up the role, with Pirro (top, right) coming in for Shanghai and also now set to complete two consecutive races.
Racing for almost four decades, Italian Pirro honed most of his skills in endurance racing, winning the Daytona 24 Hours, the Sebring 12 Hours twice and no less than five Le Mans 24 Hours. He has also won three touring car titles in Europe.
