Red Bull to demo at World Series meetings
25 April 2012 – Red Bull Racing is set to demonstrate its 2006 Formula 1 car at World Series by Renault race meetings. In recent years, the Renault (now Lotus) outfit took up the role, but it is now confirmed that Jean-Éric Vergne will be driving an RB6.
Vergne will start with this weekend’s season-opening event at MotorLand Aragón, driving the car model which David Coulthard raced to Red Bull’s first podium finish in the Monaco Grand Prix. Last year, the Frenchman was racing in Formula Renault 3.5 and just missed out on the title to team-mate Robert Wickens.
“I feel right at home in World Series by Renault,” says the Toro Rosso driver. “I spent three years competing at these meetings: two seasons in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and one in Formula Renault 3.5. I know a lot of people, including a number of drivers who I’ve faced at several levels during my career.
“I'll be taking a seat in the RB6 in front of the World Series by Renault fans and will be doing everything I can to put on a good show for them.”
As always, the World Series by Renault package offers fans free access to events; tickets can be picked up either at the circuit gates or your local Renault dealership.
