English comedians drive Marussia F1 car

27 April 2012

Some in Formula 1 argue that there are already enough comedians in the field, but tonight British television viewers will be able to watch three men actually paid to do the job, driving a real F1 car. Jimmy Carr, James Corden and John Bishop were given the chance of a lifetime by Marussia at Silverstone.

The trio’s special track outing will be shown on Friday night, airing on Sky 1’s A League of their Own – the show affectionately described as ‘The most fun you can have with your clothes on’.

“Jimmy was so reckless,” Corden says. “They said, if we weren’t filming, Jimmy would have been sent home.”

“Everyone had a huge amount of fun seeing James, John and Jimmy doing their best to drive a Formula 1 car and, in fairness, they didn’t do a bad job,” adds Marussia Team Principal John Booth. “I think everyone in the Marussia F1 Team is looking forward to seeing what should be a very entertaining show this evening.”

A League of their Own airs at 9pm (BST) on Sky 1 tonight.
